The Hammerton’s team knows that your kitchen is the heart of your home. It’s where the family comes together, where you sit with a coffee planning your next holiday and welcome friends with a glass of something tasty!

Mike Hammerton created Hammerton’s Kitchens for Real Cooks in the heart of his own home nearly 30 years ago. These days the showroom and workshop are at Sunset Farm in leafy East Sussex and the business continues with the same family values.

As Mike says: “we’re big enough to cope but small enough to care about each of our customers.

I lead a friendly, design-led company which bridges the gap between ‘out of the catalogue’ kitchen supermarkets, unable to be flexible when it comes to bespoke design, and carpenters, who whilst making fine furniture, do not always understand kitchen design. I always keep everything as environmentally friendly as possible, we don’t supply ‘flat-pack’ and our suppliers are all based in the UK except for our stone tops which we source from the best of suppliers in the mother country of stone; Italy

Of course, all this would be a waste of time if we compromised on the installation. Properly installed, your kitchen will look good year after year and our installers are chosen not only for their expertise and dedication but also for their good manners..

Hammerton’s installers take the time to do the job properly and Mike personally inspects the installation ensuring your kitchen is just as we have planned it. Our gas fitters are ‘Gas Safe’ registered and all electrical work is done to ‘Part P’ building regs and properly certificated. Hammerton’s can organise trades people for all the jobs which are part of re-modelling a kitchen or we can work with your own people if you prefer.

If all this is important to you too, give us a call or

What next if you like what you’ve read?

Step 1: Come and see us.

You’ve had a good look at the website and you like the sound of Hammerton’s, so your next step is to come and see us. We have several kitchens on display here at our showroom, both the bespoke and the new Simplicity range. Come in and feel the quality for yourself. It’s really helpful if you can bring a sketch plan of the room or your architects plan. Please phone first as visits are by appointment. 01435 868611 First we’d like to have a chat. About yourself, your ideas, needs, wants, likes and dislikes. What sort of food do you like cooking? What will you use your kitchen for besides cooking? Next we’ll discuss the style and mood of your ideal kitchen. Which furniture do you like best? What special pieces and appliances might you need? We will consider lighting and the colour-scheme, wall tiles, worktops, flooring. Then I will work up an initial design and cost it out and we’ll meet up again to discuss the proposal. After this we move to more detailed drawings.

Step 2: Detailed drawings The detailed design of a project requires a lot of thought can take a couple of days including consultations. It’s time well spent as it will inevitably lead to a better result. We will give you detailed drawings, elevations and 3D CAD views as well as detailed costings. We will normally ask a deposit of £200 at this stage. In return for your commitment we will give you £500 off the appliances when you place your order.

Step 3: Ordering Once everything is agreed and ready for production we’ll ask you for 30% of the contract price. We will then commence production, order the appliances, book the tradesmen and agree a timeframe with you.

Step 4: Installation When everything is ready we will deliver the kitchen and start work. This is when the main payment, normally 50% is due. The existing kitchen is removed first and any building work including electrical and plumbing alterations done. Next the furniture is installed. For granite worktops, templates need to be made once the furniture is fitted. Then, and only then can the tops and glass splashbacks be ordered. Fitting of the tops and any splashbacks is two to three weeks later depending on type. We take pride in our work and want you to be happy with your new kitchen so we only use our regular tradesmen for the job. We have chosen them not only for their skills but also for their manners. When it’s all done and has been personally checked by myself we’ll ask for the final payment. So, if you like what you have read, there is absolutely nothing to lose in picking up the phone and ringing me. Why not do it right now?
